Philly SportsCast #126 - March 26, 2008

There is a whopper of an online poll featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer this week asking, “Who is the greatest third baseman in Phillies history?” Now we all know the answer to that question. So why the hell are there votes for Scott Rolen and Dave Hollins? Wow.

Dave also gets into the Flyers winning ways and we offer our predictions for the 2008 Phillies.

Yeah! Baseball is finally here.

With St. Patrick’s day gloriously behind us, it’s time to talk Flyers and what this team has to do to get into the playoffs and earn that first-round defeat.

We understand this team has improved over last season, but this final stretch of games is going to be brutal and by “brutal” I mean fucking brutal.

Also, and I’m sure this is not news to anyone, the Phillies must get a solid year out of Jamie Moyer or this season is lost. Yeah yeah, all of the pitching is important, but there can be no doubt that Moyer is the key to the 2008 season.

Finally, the Iverson game was amazing on so many levels but I’ll mention two here as we were unable to on the podcast - the Sixers won the game and the crowd was sensational.

Big ups to all Philly fans who attended as well as everyone who applauded at home.

With the Philadelphia sports scene pretty much the center of the universe these days, it looks like there is a ton to live up to.

Eagles sign Asante Samuel.
Sixers defeat the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix.
Flyers loose to the Rangers on national TV.
Phillies psudo-split with the Yankees.

But there is a ton to figure out as well…

Does Asante Samuel figure out anything?
Can the Sixers win in the playoffs?
Will the Flyers make the playoffs?
Do the Phillies have what it takes?
