The way this team is playing who wouldn’t be?
It is very rare that Dave and I have nothing to complain about. But with the Phillies kicking all kinds of ass we are just sitting back and waiting for this weekend’s Marlins series.
Makes me thing of the scene in “The Natural” when Pop and his sidekick are sitting in the dugout playing Name That Tune while the team is taking batting practice - not a care in the world around here.

Liking Madson’s stuff
Ryan Madson entered last night
1-0 with a 4.38 ERA, four holds, a save, and a blown save. He also had
allowed four of five inherited runners to score.Madson also has a 2.89 ERA in his last eight appearances.
“To me, he’s throwing the ball good,” Manuel said. “That means a whole lot.”
Half of Madson’s 22 appearances have come with the game tied or the Phillies leading or trailing by no more than two runs.
“I’ll put him in tough situations,” Manuel said. “It depends where we need him. I have no problem with that.”

What the hell is this about? Madson seems to give up a run every time he pitches. Help me out here, people.

Again the Flyers Fail

It was a good run, but the fact is the Flyers could not put a championship season together and that is, once again, a disappointment.
Granted it’s not a total disappointment as no one really expected this Flyers team to compete for the Stanley Cup - however, the losing continues in Philadelphia.
Dave and Derek also pine on the Phillies, future hall-of-famer Mike Piazza and using twitter.
Enjoy.

Banking on the inevitably of the Flyers not wining the Stanley Cup this year, Philadelphia’s own Bryan Armen Graham has so generously written a feature for Sports Illustrated on the fact that our city hasn’t won a championship since 1983.
Bryan, asshole, do we really need this documented?
The Flyers’ elimination made it 100 consecutive seasons without a title for Philadelphia’s four major teams. That’s far and away the record for a four-sport town — a gold standard for civic sports futility.
Philadelphia (yes, my hometown) has been a major trophy-free zone since 1983. The drought has battered the area’s collective psyche, rendering an entire generation of sports fans wounded, disillusioned and emotionally bankrupt. Whether you chalk up the streak to bad players, bad management or just plain bad luck, the hard numbers remain the same: 100 seasons, zero championships.
To commemorate the dubious milestone, here’s a list of the 100 worst moments in Philadelphia sports during the drought. The scope is limited to the four major sports with a couple of obligatory exceptions. While the sheer length of the list might strike an outsider as a tad gratuitous — an excessive tribute to failure — there’s simply no better way to relate the epic scope of Philly’s perpetual heartbreak.

The Final Four

I suppose I was wrong. The Flyers didn’t lose in the second round of the playoffs this year - they are in the Eastern Conference finals and that is a pretty big deal. Dave talks Flyers and we make a very strong case for why Adam Eaton should simply be released today.
Can you hear that? That’s the door kicking Adam Eaton in the ass.
Enjoy the podcast.

Marvin Harrison Target of Hitman?
Filed Under News | Leave a Comment
Appearing with Jason Jackson on WQAM in Miami, 6 ABC’s Keith Russell said that his sources tell him that the man who was allegedly shot after leaving Harrison’s bar last Tuesday had come to the joint to carry out a plot to kill Harrison.
Russell said during the segment that the issue relates to Harrison’s father, who is (per Russell) incarcerated, and that the supposed “hit” was in retaliation for something Harrison’s father supposedly had done. Russell also said that there are “people who are willing to do whatever is necessary” to keep Harrison from facing charges.

You Take the Good, You Take the Bad…

…you take them both and there you have the Facts of Life, the Facts of Life. While the classic TV show featuring Blair, Natalie, and that lovable Tootie may not be your favorite, the tagline above could not better tell the tale of what is going on in Philadelphia sports.

The Flyers are winning and setting up an Eastern Conference finals matchup with their cross-state rivals, the Sixers are losing and it looks like the team’s lack of playoff experience has cought up with them, the Eagles are drafting players who will make good training camp fodder, and the Phillies have a winning record record in April and that just may be a good thing as it looks like this team may be able to win without its best players who, with the exception of Chase Utley, are not playing anywhere near where they should be.
Take the good, take the bad and there you have Philly Sports. Enjoy the podcast.
