Brett Myers And Ed Wade – A Match Made
Referring to a starting rotation that has Roy Oswalt at its top, this is what Astros general manager Ed Wade said had to say when Brett Myers put on his Astros jersey:
“Myers does bring a measure of legitimacy to the rotation,” said Wade, who drafted Myers in 1999 when he was GM of the Phillies.
Also, as you would expect, Myers took the opportunity to run his mouth…
“I wanted to go back to Philadelphia, but they didn’t show an interest, they had other obligations, which is fine with me,” Myers said at his presser. He then promised to “stick it” to the Phillies every time he faces them.
Houston can have both these morons – Philadelphia is so much better off.

One Comment so far ...
I think a lot of Phils fans, myself included, looked past his off-the-field issues, because he seemed to be a gamer, and wanted the ball. He dealt with his demotion to AAA in ‘08 pretty well, and earned some props from the fanbase for coming back strong.
But that being said, I’m glad he’s gone. Now that he’s lost 5MPH off of his fastball, he’s not worth the headaches he causes. Let Wade deal with Myers after he has 3 pops too many at the local Hooters.
I saw a bit of his press conference on MLB Network. For being miffed at the Phillies, he sure didn’t have a problem wearing his WS bling. And if he can’t muster more than 86 on his fastball, the only thing he’ll be sticking are souveniers in the RF seats at CBP.
