Philly SportsCast #161 – January 8, 2008

It is a true pleasure to have the Eagles traveling up to North Jersey to face the Giants to possibly, hopefully eliminate the defending Super Bowl Champions. Is it really too much to ask for?

Fcuk the Giants 2x.

Enjoy.

About Tarvaris Jackson block, I watched that in slow motion five or six times. I do not think that Jackson jumped. I think Clemens hit him hard enough to knock him off his feat. Clemens was at full speed when he hit him. That makes it an amazing block

Tavaris left his feet because he jumped and then Clemons drove him to the ground. You don’t fly through the air like that otherwise.

You guys are right about Giants fans already having excuses lined up for this upcoming loss. If I hear about Tuck and Jacobs being banged up one more time…. So are Westbrook and Samuel. It’s January. Everybody’s banged up.

I think the outcome of this game comes down to one player, or the absence of one, Plaxico “It’s cool to shoot yourself” Burress. The Eagles never have had someone who can cover this dude.

Here’s what that a-hole has done to us since 2005:

1 catch, 17 yds, 1 TD, Eagles loss
7 catches, 136 yds, 1 TD, Eagles loss
4 catches, 24 yds, 1 TD, Eagles loss
5 catches, 89 yds, 2 TD, Eagles playoff win
6 catches, 120 yds, 0 TD Eagles win
6 catches 114 yds, 1 TD in overtime, Eagles loss
2 catches, 37 yds, 0 TD, Eagles loss
6 catches, 113 yds, 1 TD, Eagles loss

8 games, 7 TDs, too many Eagles losses. But without him, Eli’s recievers are horrible. They make our guys look like All-Pros. I’ve heard all the Brandon Jacobs talk but without having to double Plaxico the defense can bring up Dawk or Mikell to plug up another gap against him. The Giants just don’t have another recieving threat that scares me.

I got a good feeling about this team. There’s just something different going on here now. Maybe the Phils started something or maybe I’m drunk on Kool-Aid.

From Peter King at SI: “The reason the Eagles are major-league dangerous Sunday at 1 is what Brian Westbrook told me the other day: “We feel like it’s our goal to right the wrongs of the whole season.”

I’m hearing things like that more and more out of these Eagles — that they’re determined to prove the ups and downs of the season are out of their system, and they may not be a great offense, but they’re good enough to win any game they play, and they have the kind of veteran presence and experience that will allow them to win a big game. Look at Westbrook’s game last week, for instance — held to nothing for 53 minutes, he takes a screen pass 71 yards to the end zone to turn a nail-biting, two-point lead into a busted-open game.”
