This is now essentially a three-game race to the finish, the Giants and Cowboys battling for the final NFC wild card spot. If indeed the Giants are on the outside looking in blame coordinator Bill Sheridan’s lousy defense as the reason why. The Eagles scored 85 points this season on the Giants and often the scores came with ridiculous ease.- N.Y. Post
“We’ll take our share of the responsibility,” Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka said. “It’s sheer disappointment. It’s definitely a tough one to swallow. With that many points, there had to be a lot of mistakes out there.” – N.Y. Times
But don’t believe it. Not for one second. The standings might say the Eagles (9-4), Cowboys (8-5) and Giants (7-6) are separated by a scant two games in the standings, top to bottom, but there’s clearly only one legit contender and two obvious pretenders based on Week 14′s results. And three more weeks of the season is likely to only re-enforce the depth of that perception, not lessen it. – Sports Illustrated
The most important thing the Giants have going for them is the Cowboys’ schedule. Dallas has back-to-back road games at New Orleans and Washington before finishing up at home against the Eagles. The Giants play at Washington next Monday night, then have their final regular-season game ever at Giants Stadium against the Panthers before finishing Jan. 3 in Minnesota.- N.Y. Daily News
The 45-38 slop-fest Sunday night was the Eagles’ fourth straight victory over the Giants, three of those wins coming at Giants Stadium. The Giants have given up 85 points to Philly this season, in just two games. A couple of those touchdowns last night came against the Giants’ offense and special teams. Most points, however, were scored against a defense that can’t keep pace with Andy Reid’s brain or Donovan McNabb’s streaky arm.
This is not a fluky or ethereal streak. The Eagles’ domination has been going on for some time. McNabb is 12-4 lifetime against the Giants, who look wide-eyed and ineffective during the Eagles’ most ambitious, damaging plays on offense and returns.- N.Y. Daily News
