Celebrate This…Reid And McNabb Going Nowhere

With Joe Banner issuing a statement today stating that Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb will be back in town next season, it has me thinking…isn’t that good news?

The Eagles have reached the NFC Championship Game five times in the last eight years under Reid and with McNabb as the team’s QB – and while I have strong opinions on whether or not Reid and McNabb can win a Super Bowl together, I know for sure they do many things right to put the team in position to do so.

First Reid…

As the executive vice president of football operations, everything that we see on the field runs through Reid. So, when the team wins – Reid is responsible. When they lose – Reid is responsible. It’s frustrating. But what’s the alternative?

Tom Heckert is here and with this horrible loss, perhaps Reid will allow Heckert to move into more of a traditional GM role. Giving Heckert some serious player responsibility may breathe new life into the Eagles’ draft day and maybe – just maybe – the Eagles will acquire young talent that can deliver today rather than years from now.

Now McNabb…

No one can blame McNabb for the loss to the Cardinals. Blame a defense that couldn’t stop Kurt Warner in the first half – giving up 24 points. Just after McNabb worked his ass off to get the Eagles the lead in early in the fourth quarter, the defense allowed the Cards to go on a 14-play, 72-yard drive that lasted 7:52 – which KILLED the Eagles’ season.

That drive kept the Eagles from advancing – not McNabb.

If you don’t think the Eagles can win a Super Bowl with this coach and quarterback you’re nuts – the dynamic duo simply need to catch a break.

Let’s chock it up to really bad luck – which, in this case, is much better than no luck at all.

I agree, they are you best chance of winning but Reid needs to be stripped of the exec title. All I heard was how good Booker was and how he was just like Westbrook & 2 of them in the backfield would give people fits. How many times did we se him this year and we wasted a 3rd round pick. Bad judgement

Are you kidding me? They need to catch a break? 5 NFC Championship Games and they need to catch a break!?!? This is professional sports! You make your own breaks at this level. Familiarize yourself with this saying: Things may come to those who wait, but only things left by those who hustle.”

You keep hoping for a break…. I’m sure thats exactly what they’re doing in Dallas.
