Donovan McNabb Lost This Game

At what time late in a game against the dreaded Cowboys does a 10-year veteran quarterback decide to get funny with handoffs and poor passes? There is no doubt in my mind that McNabb lost the game for the Eagles as the Cowboys’ 41-37 came back to win simply because of poor execution late in the game from this quarterback.

Forget about the putrid defense for a second – I understand it was poor as all hell. Let’s make no mistake about it – the carelessness of the Eagles’ quarterback killed this team last night.

Combined points: 78. All-purpose yardage: 1,165. Lead changes: Seven. IS THIS A GAME TO FUCK AROUND IN? Late in the fourth?

This guy is just plain wrong.

i can’t say that mcnabb lost that game, at least i can’t say that without saying that mcnabb and the defense (or at least in particular brian dawkins poor coverage) lost that game, chances are, they probably would’ve had a field goal, and then they would’ve been up by 6, and then the cowboys probably would’ve scored a touchdown, and the eagles would’ve lost anyway cuz the defense couldn’t stop shit last night

Without McNabb’s performance, the Boys would have won by a landslide. He was the McNabb of a few years ago (magical in his play). The Boys should have had another 3 to 4 sacks. You can not pin this on him. Give the Boys credit, the halftime defensive adjustments were great. They held the Eagles to only 7 points in the second half. The game was the best game I have ever saw live before – no manner who won. The crowd was wild. There were a lot of Eagles fans at the game. And the best part was my father attended the game with me(a die hard Eagles fan). The ride home was great. I will be sending him back up to Philly this afternoon with a Dallas Cowboy ticket stub with T.O. on it. Classic!

McNabb’s play late in the game COST the Eagles the win. Of course he played well to put them in position to win the game – that is his job.

Late in the game, when it mattered the most, he shit the bed and that is no good.

Derek you nailed it. McNabb’s fumble and carelessness in the final 2 minutes of the game are unexcuseable at this stage in his career. He is a terrible clock manager and folds under pressure.

McNabb does not have the late game heroic ability that Manning, Manning and Brady have.

      And of course Favre.

How many times are we going to blame McNabb for everything? He had a HELL of a game but that fumble was costly. I blame this loss on Jim Johnson & the secondary. Question:How many time did Witten catch the ball and was wide open? He had A few catches over 20 yds. It seems like we shut T.O down in the 2nd half and Witten Killed us. He caught a 40yd pass to end the half & they get a FG & was always there when Romo needed him. And where was L.J Smith last night, anybody see him. Get Celek in there.

exactly, where the hell was LJ, he was on my fantasy and i lost because of him, he needs to step it up, i blame the D mostly, i mean, they can’t make one stop???

Mcnabb played the best game in years. When will the philly fans stop throwing him under the bus? And this is coming from a die hard cowboys fan.

McNabb had 1 TD in the game and did nothing in the second half.

He CLEARLY cost the Eagles this game by fumbling the ball and then taking two sacks on the Eagles final possession.

The Eagles success on offense was because of great preparation by Mornhinweg.

        Totally agree.

The best game he played in years was last week against the Rams.

i can’t believe i actually agree with 5 superbowl rings, the fumble was part of the reason they lost but the defense should take most of it, not mcnabb, and his 2 sacks in the end of the game?? mcnabb should be applauded for not getting sacked more, he was dodging sacks all day, the cowboys should’ve had more, and i disagree wit givin credit to marty, he should be takin the blame for the lack of points in the second half, are you givin him credit for that “genius” last play? nobody was open during that last drive, they got outcoached like they usually do during a 2 minute drive

Lets not forget the Eagles were handed this game on a platter, Dalas turnovers led to easy scores after two early field goals. Without Dallas mistakes this game isn’t close, hate to admit it but remove those two easy scores and the game was not as close as the score. Dallas over came thier mistakes and still pulled off the win, I fucking hate them.

      • Derek on September 17, 2008 at 9:54 pm

Dave and I fucking hate them as well. But there is not doubt that if McNabb does not pussyfoot around with the ball late in the game, the Eagles win the game.

i disagree, if mcnabb gets the handoff, they probably score a field goal and dallas still has time to score a touchdown and then dallas wins anyway, and 5superbowl rings still smiles
