Eagles Fail To Land Jason Taylor

From Strongsideblitz:

Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Washington Redskins wasted no time in negotiating a deal for the Pro Bowl DE. Washington sent two draft picks (2nd round in 2009 and a 6th round in 2010)in exchange for the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Schefter also reported that the Eagles were in the mix to land Taylor, but the Redskins wasted no time and got a deal done. Banner and co. blow another opportunity.

One thing the Eagles can learn from the Taylor and Shockey deals is that Sheppard is not worth as much as the think he is. Taylor and Shockey are rated way higher at their positions than Sheppard is.

That is not a bad point at all. Perhaps we’ll see that Sheppard and his new agent figure this out as well.

I hope they are reading.

I expect Sheppard to be dealt durring camp. His situation will be similar to Taylor’s. A team will lose one of it’s CBs to injury and Sheppard’s stock will rise. Remember the problem with Sheppard is that he wants a raise and any attempted deal for him has been rejected because of his high demands.

The Westbrook situation is getting interesting. I am starting to take the Eagles side on this one. Westbrook is not Tomlinson but he is demanding the same type of up front money. I do not think the Eagles made a mistake when they gave him that extra 3 million dollars. They bought themselves time with that move. Westbrook ended up paying it back and now that he wants to renegotiate he is almost thirty.

GIANTS could get Saints 1st round pick in 2009.

The Saints traded Vilma to the Jets for a fourth-round pick in the 2008 draft and a conditional second- or third-rounder in 2009. If Vilma plays in 85% of the defensive plays and signs an extension the Jets will receive the Saints 2nd round pick in 2009 and the GIANTS would get the Saints 1st round pick.

It is a long shot, but possible.

update:The first round pick would be in the 2010 draft not the 2009.

Typical Eagles…always in the mix, but never get it done. Moss and now Taylor.
