Eaton Sent Down - Happ Coming Back
The Philles have sent Adam Eaton to the minors and triple-A lefthander J.A. Happ will take Eaton’s roster spot.
Eaton, whose has been simply taking up space for almost two years, has finally been given the word that his days as a Phillie are over. Pat Gillick’s folly may be no more in this town and we are all the better for it.
Since signing a three-year, $24.5 million contract with the Phillies in November 2006, Eaton has been terrible. The righthander owns a 6.10 ERA in 51 appearances - 49 starts - in his one-plus season with the Phillies.
The Phillies didn’t specify where Eaton was being sent in a Monday morning statement, saying that Eaton’s schedule was being worked out.

Don’t get too excited. He hasn’t been released, only DFA’d. I think he’ll be back in Philly within a month.

although i think blanton deserves a little more of a look to see if he can still deliver, i’d rather see happ take the fifth starter’s spot

Eaton is done as a starter in Philadelphia. That we know for sure - that is reason enough to celebrate.
