While the Phillies terrible loss to the Orioles was a downer, it was nice to hear that old familiar sound at the ballpark, “Booooooo.”
The grace period with the defending World Champions is over – now it’s time to let this team know just how bad they are hurting fans in this town by not winning at home.
The Phillies (36-29) are currently 13-20 at home this season.
“I’m sure people are getting frustrated, fans are getting frustrated, but hey, it’s baseball,” Shane Victorino said after the game. “We’ve still got a long way to go. We’re still in first place. We just have to keep working hard, keep plugging away . . . We’re all human. We all get frustrated. Everybody wants to do good. Nobody wants to do bad. That’s just the nature of the beast . . . I wouldn’t say that we are frustrated to the point that we are throwing in the towel. We are frustrated because we know we are a better team.”
I understand fully that the Phillies are still in first place and I understand that slumps are part of the game. However, the fans who pay to see this Phillies in person need to get something out of it. There is no longer ride home than one from the ballpark when the Phillies feed a giant shitburger to the faithful like they did last night by losing to the O’s, 7-2.
It was awful and the Phillies fans finally let them have it.
