Gordon’s Season Over

Orthopedist Lewis Yocum has confirmed that Tom Gordon season is over. Gordon, the Phillies’ 40-year-old setup man had a second opinion yesterday in Los Angeles.

Yocum gave Gordon two options: surgery or rehab, which Gordon chose. He will be in a brace for three weeks before seeing Ciccotti again, making it highly unlikely that he will be able to pitch again this season. If Gordon undergoes an operation, it would be Tommy John surgery, a procedure that includes a 12-month rehabilitation period. Gordon had Tommy John surgery in 1999.
