“I’m really not happy with this decision that the Phillies have made,” Moyer said. “I will take what they’ve asked me to do, but I’m not real excited about the decision that’s been made.”
“I feel like I’ve been misled,” Moyer said. “I’m a little disheartened a little bit because I know this past winter when I was negotiating with the Phillies, this was a sore thumb, if you will, about this potentially happening. Ruben, you can’t promise anything in this game, but I really felt that Ruben kind of parlayed to me that this type of situation would not happen.
“I actually even had some conversation with David [Montgomery], and them reassuring me this type of situation won’t happen. Again, I’m a little disheartened by the way it’s happened, how it’s happened.”
“Whether I like it or not, this is the situation I’m in,” he said. “I will deal with it. I will deal with it in a respectful way. I’ll be respectful to my teammates. I do not want to be a distraction, and I refuse to be a distraction. It’s about the 25 players that are here and are playing. We all have to pick each other up. We all have to support each other. And we all have to be professional.”

And being professional is not blasting this team. You’ll notice that nowhere in the above quotes does Moyer mention his 5.47 earned run average – the highest of any starter in the National League.

Good grief. Moyer is really being a dick about this. He got a TWO YEAR contract at 46 years old. This coming after winning a WS in his hometown.
Now, he gets sent to the bullpen after pitching like Adam Eaton all year, and he’s disappointed with the Philles’ front office??? I don’t buy Moyer’s story either, because Amaro couldn’t promise him a spot in the rotation all year any more than Moyer could promise his ERA would be under 4.
Unbelievable. If I was Amaro, I would have DFA’d his ass right on the spot after reading those comments. But then again, the Phils would be guaranteed to eat the rest of Moyer’s contract. At least there’s still an outside chance that Moyer does the honorable thing and retires at the end of the season.

I totally agree with you. There is no place for the kind of loyalty Moyer is expecting here. I can understand that he want’s everyone to know that he’s unhappy – but that’s all you have to say, those two words.
If Lidge lost his closer position and then said some of these same things, people in this town would go nuts.
Last year is so far over. The best team possible has to be given a chance to win it all again.
Hay moyer how about DEALING with your pathetic ERA..did you really think the phills were just going to go with a 46 year old and not try to look for Youthfull FASTBALL pitchers?
Deal with this Jamie..you scare the shit out of me everytime you pitch..and also I am tired of EVERY FUCKING time I go to a philles game..your pitching…
sit on the bench and cash your pay check..your not a hero in this town
