Jeffrey Lurie Is Crazy

I have considered Eagles’ Owner Jeffrey Lurie one of the smartest, shrewd and determined owners to ever come into town - and in plenty of ways he is still all that. However, after listening to his annual “State of the Eagles” charade speech he offered yesterday, I have come to only one conclusion…

The man is bat-shit crazy.

Where do I begin? OK - let’s start with this quote here…

“This isn’t about rebuilding, retooling or anything - this is [about] going for it,” Lurie said. “That’s our approach. It’s pedal-to-the-metal. That’s what every move is based on, or what every attempted move is based on, with an eye toward the present and an eye toward the future. But we’re going for it.”

Going for what? The Super Bowl? Let’s look at what you’ve got going on in training camp as the season quickly approaches..

1. You’re prized free agent - cornerback Asante Samuel, has missed all but one day of training camp with a strained right hamstring injury.

2. Another corner, Lito Sheppard, is pissed as all hell with his contract and you poking fun at his YPA (yards per attempt) in your presser surely didn’t help that fact.

3. Your prized (and fragile) running back, Brian Westbrook, wants a new contract and isn’t happy about the progress.

4. Donovan McNabb asked for offensive playmakers in the offseason - none arrived. You are going into the season with Kevin Curtis as your primary receiver. Ouch.

5. You’re two tackles, John Runyan and Tre Thomas, are turning to dust and the NFC East knows that. Jason Taylor and Usi Umenyiora are set to kick all kinds of ass.

6. Your Pro-Bowl guard, Shawn Andrews, is suffering from debilitating depression.

7. I stop at seven - I’m beginning to tear up.

What’s next? All these pitches to choose from…

“He’s right in his prime,” Lurie said of McNabb. “We’ve had the best quarterback in the NFC for quite a while. That’s not the case when he’s not 100 percent. When he’s healthy, we have the best quarterback in the NFC.”

Donovan McNabb is 31 years old - and is hurt often. He is not the best QB in the conference or even the division - Eli Manning has a ring - McNabb does not. Rings are important, Jeff.

Wait a second - a moment of clarity…

“We’ve accomplished a lot this decade - except win a championship,” Lurie said. “We haven’t won a Super Bowl Championship and that’s what we want for our fans and that’s - day to day - all I think about.

That is refreshing - but it’s just talk. Getting behind the microphone and saying to this fan base that this team has the players to win a championship takes brass balls.

Wait a minute - I take it all back - Lurie is not crazy. He’s simply a businessman telling his customers exactly what they want to hear.

i don’t think he knows what “going for it” means either, going for it means you make crazy trades to get great players, like trading for TO was “going for it,” just because you sign one good free agent doesn’t mean you’re going for it, if he had signed like 2 or 3 and made a great trade, then i would see him as going for it, trading for Chad Johnson would have been going for it, this is not going for it, the fact that i can’t even remember our #1 draft pick off the top of my head means that the eagles are not going for it, that’s not to say that the eagles won’t make a run for the playoffs, cuz i think they could, but they definitely are not “going for it,” the brewers are “going for it”

Hey, atlest he didnt say well no one was available. But if we, im sorry, THEY werent such cheep fucks me might… just might hace Moss.

The thing i hate about the birds is that they dont take risks. They play it safe. At this point, its been 9 years with reed, u eihter fire him and start from scratch or u take a few risks bring in some vetern talent, *a nit for Andy Reid* Vetern talent is some who like 32, i kno over the limit, who can still play.

Anyway, all they need 2 do is take a risk. okay so u traded away lito and a first round for Chad, who knows u might win it. But god forbid we trade away Lito and a first rounder, for a star! i mean everyone knows thats just rediculious.

As for andrews, i dont know if hes had the prob in the past, but hes a fucking pro-bowler whose signed to a multi million dollar deal! What does he have 2 be depressed about? I mean if someone close to him died thats understandable. His wife devoiced, the girlfriend broke up wit him, wife/girlfriend is cheating, i can understand.

Eagles gotta get him sum anti-depressents. But god forbid we help our pro-bowl gaurd stop from killing himself. Cuz it would cost money!

All in all, Eagles must do list:

SPEND MONEY, ur goin 2 profit anyway!

make trades for stars, we got TO wear did we go?

Take risks— let me rephrase, take a smart risk. u seen someone good sit on the bench for a while and barely play, try 2 make a steal deal for him, like LJ, look what he can do, if someone noticed him, he woulda been out in KC fast.

Dont play it safe anymore: like i said take the risk. who knows u might get the next jerry rice from somewhere like… the Jets.

Well teh eagles dont make a good move fast, ima start rootin for my dads jets now, cuz @least they tried to mke a move, and they just got farve.

so ima end this with a lil chant:

    J.E.T.S. JETS! JETS! JETS!
