Bask In The Drama – The 2009 Eagles Schedule Is Here

April 14, 2009

The Eagles 2009 regular season schedule has been released. It starts with three of their first four games at home, a Week 4 bye, three sets of back-to-back road games including two trips to the West Coast, a final home game against B-Dawk and the Broncos and a final regular season game in Dallas.

Since when has NFL schedule makers been comprised of flunkies from the ‘One Life to Live’ writing room? This is not a schedule that has the Eagles being competitive, it simply has the makings of a poorly planned soap opera.

Mark it down, this is the day the NFL jumped the shark.

I wouldn’t say the NFL “jumped the shark” (BTW, the phrase “jumped the shark” jumped the shark a long time ago), but I agree the schedule is weird. My initial thoughts:
    -
The bye week sucks this year…way too early
    -
They should be 4-1 going into the MNF game in Washington
    -
Dawk coming back 2 days after Christmas???
    -
3 straight divisional games, followed by @ Chargers and @ Bears….That is BRUTAL
    -
NFC South shouldn’t be as tough as last year. Carolina and Bucs should step back, and Saints have no D. Atlanta should win that division.
    -
Without hindsight of the draft or the rest of the free agency, the Birds should at least split their divisional games, should win 4 of their other 5 home games (Saints, Bucs, Chiefs, 49ers & Broncos – could win all 5, but they tend to lose a game they should win) and somehow win 3 of 5 remaining road games to get to 10-6.
