Live From The Bar [podcast]

Philly SportsCast #141 - July 16, 2008
With the heatwave hittin’ the Delaware Valley this week, Dave and I decided to take the show on the road. I’m sure you all will love the wonderful Brett Farve rant the show concludes with - one that can only happen in a sea of drunk people.
Enjoy. Download

Joe Blanton! I like this move for the Phillies. The Fat Bastard is 27 and signed thru 2010, he throws a ton of innings, doesn’t give up many HRs, doesn’t give up too many walks, loads of ground balls, and above average double plays. This guy looks like he bleeds Cheese Wiz.
On the down side, he looks to be really out of shape. Not sure how the above mentioned 200 innings per year will affect his bloated body. He’s lost 12 games this year with an ERA hovering around 5. This is pitching half his games in spacious Oakland Collisium. But his #s this year, aside from L’s and ERA, look to be on par with his career norms.
The Phillies gave up 3 prospects, but held on to their top 3. I think this is def one of Gillick’s better moves.

I did this move as well. I really think that Blanton will get into being in a monster division race that is only going to get more insane from here on out.

Will do. We may do it right from there one time with the mics and all that fun stuff.

Never said I was happy for the Phillies, just that it was a good move.

Just heard through you guys that the spectrum is getting torn down…sucks, oh well.
Best spectrum memory? Kings beatin the Flyers 5-1 and the fans chanting we want a fight. 1st game ever for me. there was no fight, but i was a kid so…
concertwise, too many to mention (graduated in ‘89 so whoever came around I saw.
Bon Jovi in ‘88 or ‘89 couldn’t get tickets, me and my girl got drunk and fooled around in the parking lot
Go Flyers!!!
