New Mets Closer: ‘We’re the team to beat’

Straight outta the Been There – Done That department, the blasted Mets’ new closer, Francisco Rodriguez, drops this ever-regurgitated bomb on the Phillies…

“Of course, we’re going to try to win the division. Of course, we’re going to be the front-runner. Of course, we’re going to be the team to beat,” he told the Associated Press.

Days after agreeing to a $37 million, three-year contract, it seems K-Rod feels the Mets offseason moves will get the team over the hump and past the Phillies in the NL East- a stretch that includes two consecutive September swoons.

“I don’t want there to be a controversy or the other ballclubs in that division to take it personally or take it in a bad way,” he also said. “If they ask me, ‘Oh, which ballclub is going to win the National League East?’ It’s going to be the Mets. Easy question.”

Wow. How many days to pitchers and catchers?

    YAHTZEE! K-Rod will fit right in with the Mets. Going to win the NL East?!?! Can someone please remind this jackass that he doesn’t even enter the game unless the Mets have given him the lead! Let me here from someone who actually puts the team in the lead. I can see it now… ala Jose Reyes… this dipshit will come running in the from the bullpen waiving his #1 finger in the air as he takes the mound. He’s gonna get lit up worse than the pinata in the Mets clubhouse…. and you know they have one.
