The Phillies must start winning at home.
They lost again tonight to the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-1 – giving the hometown fans nothing to cheer about, as well as no value for their money.
They are 1-4 so far on this nine-game homestand and 13-18 overall at Citizen’s Bank Park – the third-worst home record in baseball (ahead of only the Nationals and Diamondbacks). They’re in first place in the National League East, but only because of a major league best 23-9 road record.
The Phillies are the only division leader in baseball with a losing home record.
“The fans have been outstanding,” Matt Stairs said after the game. “We’re lucky. We could be getting booed out of this place.”
It’s time to address this situation.
