Details are hitting the bloody street about what happened after Giants receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh at a club in midtown Manhattan called Latin Quarter on Friday night.
Here’s what is being reported:
Burress, hereinafter referred to as Giant Moron, shot his own dumb ass with an unlicensed .40-caliber handgun and then, left the club without anyone reporting that the gun went off.
Aside: Remind me to take the Latin Quarter off my list of things to do in Manhattan.
After leaving the club, Giant Moron needed to gets his leg patched up. So what does Giant Moron do? He calls around to see what medical institution will clean him up without asking any questions and actually finds one – New York–Cornell Hospital – and checks in as someone named, “Harris Smith.”
Now Giant Moron (I am laughing so hard as I type this – can this dude be for real?) tells the doctors that he was shot while asking for extra bread sticks at an Applebee’s.
That seems to be believable enough for the team of brainiacs at New York–Cornell as no one there files a police report – standard procedure required by law.
This is the greatest story ever. Ever.

The most amazing thing about the GIANTS in 2008 is that they have now lost a total of five Pro Bowl caliber players and are still the best team in the NFL.
Most media outlet are also failing to report that Giants WR Steve Smith was robbed at gunpoint in front of his New York home last week. I am in no way defending Burress here, but I can understand his reason for wanting to carry a firearm.
I applaud Bloomberg for his “throw the book at him” hard stance. Mayor “Busta” Nutter should follow suit.

I agree – that is amazing.
Let’s not forget how much of a thug Allen “The Cancer” Iverson was here in Philadelphia.
1997: Iverson, along with his friends, was stopped by policemen for speeding late at night and was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and for possession of marijuana. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to community service.[24]
If Philadelphia had the same law as New York city does now He would have spent 3.5 years in Prison.
Leonard Little
After a drunken birthday in 1998, Little crashed into and killed another motorist, Susan Gutweiler in St. Louis, MO. When tested, his blood alcohol level measured 0.19 percent, a level that exceeds the statutory level of intoxication of 0.08 in the state of Missouri.[5] Little received 90 days in jail, four years probation and 1000 hours of community service.[6]
Completely unacceptable
It is completely unacceptable. However, the past is the past. Plax is a mess and the law is the law.
I want to see what Roger Goodell does with this guy. If he is really trying to put clowns like this in their places then this guy better not play for a while. Same goes for Vick the dogkiller even after he’s out of prison. Playing professional sports is not a right.
Goodell has proven he has no tolerance for this kind of shit. Imagine if plax was in that club, the gun went off and it hit some party hound in the ass. Imagine that it then hits an artery via said partyer’s ass and kills the bitch.
What happens next? Does not matter – that is why there are laws against this kind of wild west shit and that is why Plax is done for a long while.
I agree he should be made an example of. The Giants actually set his contract up to protect themselves from a situation like this.
Although Banner and Laurie were not held at gunpoint by Asante Samuel’s agent, they did indeed get robbed when they signed him.
Godell and the Cowboys completely fumbled in the “zero tollerence” policy. Pacman Jones should not be allowed to collect a paycheck in the NFL. One strike and your out? He may have not swung hard but a strike is a strike and he is still in the NFL.
I am so proud of the way the GIANTS handled Burress today. They did not wait for the league to step in they ended his season without pay on their own terms. How many NFL teams would do that while in hot pursuit of a Lombardi trophy. We all know which team wouldn’t.
Earlier in the year a few people asked me how I felt about the way the Giants treated Burress when he was suspended for missing practice. My answer was always the same. The Giants don’t need him. I still feel the same way.

You’re nuts. We are talking an unregistered weapon here with a mandatory jail sentence. There isn’t a team in teh league – including the Eagles and Cowboys – that wouldn’t have ended this dude’s season.
Bad info fella. The gun is registered to Plaixco he does not have a permit to carry in NY, but he did have a permit to carry that specific gun in Florida.
When Pacman Jones was in that altercation earlier this year Dallas did nothing. They just waited to see what the NFL would do.
Matt Jones was caught by police with a face full of cocaine this season and he wasn’t ever benched!!!!!
Six NFL players tested positive for illegal substances and all played in games untill the NFL suspended them.
Technically Godell could not stop Plaxico from playing if he was healthy and the Giants wanted him to. He is pleading not guilty which means he is innocent until proven guilty.
Who is this Matt Jones? He sounds like my kind of guy..
