Philly SportsCast #140 - July 9, 2008

While we are ecstatic with the Elton Brand signing, Dave and I are a little freaked about the Phillies lack of offense.

This podcast goes a bunch of ways. Enjoy.

Damn, first Westbrook last week, and Tugger this week

    #45 = Tug McGraw

Tugger is a great one and he is hanging in Dman’s Basement. I guess I am just a bitter guy and always see the disappontment and failure and the players that happened to destroy the Phila. teams. I have to start remembering the good times (1970s and early 1980s)rather then all the beat downs (any other era).

There is a commercial spinning on Comcast Sports with Schmidty explaining how fans vandalized his home by destroying his mailbox an dousing his front lawn in gasoline. Is that how we treat our Hall of Fame players?

I was too young to know what the situation was.
However, history does show that it is BRUTAL being a star player in this town. Verbal opinion is one thing, but acts of vandalizing a players home is going way too far.

I do remember Mitch Williams leaving town in fear of the Philadelphia fans after the Joe Carter HR.
