Comcast SportsNet’s Derrick Gunn is reporting that the Eagles and Donovan McNabb are getting ready to put pen to paper on a financial restructuring of the final two years on the quarterback’s contract.
McNabb, who is currently scheduled to earn $9.2 million this season and $10 million in 2010, is looking for better market value for a viable QB in this league but Dunn is reporting that adding a third or fourth year to the contract is not being persued at this time.
That’s not to say the two sides have been discussing an extension – only that it has been tabled for now. This is more of McNabb wanting more guaranteed money from the Birds as perhaps a commitment from the team and a sure sign that whole Baltimore benching fiasco is long forgotten.
