Taking Manny To The Bank
According to FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal, the Phillies and the Mets are interested in acquiring Manny Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox. I can’t see the Red Sox considering trading Ramirez with the AL East the tightest it’s been in years or the Phillies trading catching prospect Lou Marson - who is said to be a player in any deal. If Marson is the real thing, he is needed in Philadelphia ASAP.
But where there’s smoke there’s fire. Manny a Phillie? Charlie would love to have this bat for sure and there is no doubt that Manny in this lineup at Citizens Bank Park would frighten all who enter.
The Mets? Who exactly would they give the Red Sox, Moises Alou? The Mets can’t trade any more trade top prospects, can’t mess with their improved vibe under new manager Jerry Manuel.
The Phillies? Yes, Ramirez goes way back with manager Charlie Manuel, but perhaps no general manager emphasizes makeup more than Pat Gillick, who plans to retire at the end of the season.
To make the deal work financially, the Phillies probably would need to include outfielder Geoff Jenkins, who is signed through next season. Ramirez — ahem — probably would need to play right field. And the Red Sox almost certainly would want the Phils’ Class AA catcher, Lou Marson, who has been off-limits in other deals. Then again, imagine Manny on a salary drive at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park.

I don’t see anyone taking Manny at this point in a trade. If the RedSox put him on waivers, he might get claimed.

Totally agree. Not only do the Red Sox know what they get with Manny being Manny but other teams don’t want to give up prospects for this guy.
Yeah, the bat is there - but the head is also there.

If he get manny its bittersweet, we get the bat, and the head (good for sum laughs, during a pitching change he might water the flowers)
thats teh seet part
The bitter part is, he’s old. He still produces in what, his late 30s early 40s?
Not to mention, its a 3-way race for the AL east, the sox, my and yankies are all goin for it. So thre a small show he’ll come here, Boston needs his bat
