Terrific Day For Philly Sports – Phillies, Flyers and Sixers Win
What a day!
First the Phillies, coming off Brad Lidge’s first blown save of his Phillies career, beat the Padres 5-4 as Raul Ibanez smoked a a two-run homer in the ninth inning. It was a badly-needed win.
Next, the Flyers decided to play both ends of the hockey rink and really took it to the Penguins with Jeff Carter and Mike Richards scoring their first goals of the series early and the team never looked back. This was a desperately needed win as they avoided going down 3-0 in this first-round playoff series.
Finally, Andre Iguodala hit a 22-foot jumper with 2.2 seconds remaining in the game as the 76ers rallied from an 18-point hole to beat Orlando 100-98 in Game 1 of their opening-round playoff series Sunday. Iguodala had 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. A surprising and potentially series-busting win as the Sixers take a 1-0 lead in series.
Celebrate. What a day this was.
