The Mets Are A Mess

What a mess they have up there in Flushing. Omar Minaya flies 3000 miles to finally let Willie Randolph know that his services will no longer be needed as manager of the Mets.

The 53-year-old Randolph was set to be an NL coach at the All-Star game at Yankee Stadium next month.

Did the Mets really try to hide this from New York fans by having Randolph fly to Anaheim, win a game, and then fire him away from the New York spotlight?

Perhaps they think that Met’s fans won’t wake up in the morning or there is no tomorrow because there really isn’t one for this team.

While I’m sorry that a man lost his job, something we all can relate to, I love that the Mets are such a disaster. This is fun.

And that’s how it ends for Randolph.

Omar Minaya was chasing the team charter to the West Coast on a flight of his own, a highly unusual itinerary for a general manager who doesn’t often partake in road trips, and the assumption was he wasn’t coming for the Pacific breezes. The assumption was he was coming for the manager. He was. The whole thing was a sigh and a phone call from happening, no matter that the Mets had actually scored some runs, that they’d actually gotten a decent game out of Mike Pelfrey, that Billy Wagner had actually gotten the last three outs.

I doubt this team will be fighting for anything. Let’s understand that the players are the ones that put sweet willie on the hot seat and, as you can see by last night’s 6-1 drubbing with their ace on the hill, this team is far from getting where they would like to be.

      Who they gonna fire next?
